Functional Skateboard Halfpipe for ArtPrize!
For years now, I have dreamed about making a functional skateboard halfpipe and finally my dream has come true! I have been selected by ADORATION, a Detroit-based curating duo, for one of their sites for 2012 ArtPrize. Due to the scale of this project, I will be making a Kickstarter Campaign to fund this project and will be looking for your help. The exhibition will be held from June 16th – September 16th, 2012 in the Bieber Ham Gallery. The Future of Jewish Art: One Artist’s Perspective
Tuesday, April 24th at 7:00pm Hillel at Temple University 15th and Norris, Philadelphia, PA Open to the public Professor Leslie Friedman is offering a talk on Tuesday 4/24, 7pm at the Rosen Hillel in light of the visiting art exhibit, Transcending History: Moving Beyond the Legacy of Slavery and the Holocaust. Professor Friedman teaches at Temple University and University of the Arts, and her artwork, which is inspired by her own Jewish identity and journey, has been featured here in Philadelphia and across the country. 2012 Oso Bay North American Printmaking Exhibition
Over 270 artists from the U.S. and Canada submitted a total of 960 works for consideration for the Oso Bay Printmaking Exhibition. Leslie Friedman is among 78 artists selected for the exhibition by Jurors Bill Fick and Tom Huck. They chose Cargo For Port Derby (2010) for the exhibition. The 2012 Oso Bay North American Printmaking Exhibition will be on display in the Islander Gallery at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi from March 30 through April 26, 2012. Leslie Friedman is named a CFEVA fellow
The Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA) has named their new Career Development fellows and Leslie Friedman was one of six chosen for the graduation year of 2014. Other new members include Johanna Inman, Daniel Gerwin, Kay Healy, Heechan Kim, and Rebecca Gilbert.
Leslie starts NAPOLEON with Daryl Bergman
NAPOLEON is a member-based gallery started in July 2010 with an inaugural show by Christopher Hartshorne. The founders are Daryl Bergman and Leslie Friedman and the gallery is located in the heart of Philadelphia in the Rollins Building. By August, 10 members were named and a schedule created for the first, experimental year.
